Disasters and Prices

The New Orleans flood reminds us that life and property are fragile. They also remind us that the laws of economics are not. In the aftermath of last years Tsunami, prices rose sharply for goats, chickens, and salt as supplies declined and the price of beef fell as rumors of contamination spread.
